Meet the Executive: Ticia Heward

This is the second in a series of profiles of the people who serve on the Executive Board of the CAGP Saskatchewan South Chapter.

Ticia’s #1 badge is Hockey Mom and Hockey Wife - turned Coach’s wife with Canada’s favourite sport taking her to 18 cities and 4 countries over the last 30 years. Her favourite teams are the Edmonton Oil Kings and Henderson Silver Knights for which her son Blake and husband Jaime, play and work.

While on her hockey adventure that began in 1990, she raised a young family while living abroad. As a Canadian without a work visa, she was looking for purpose. Her daughter Irelyn suggested she volunteer for CAPS CARE, the Washington Capitals’ charitable foundation.

It was there that she fell in love with giving back to community. This led her to start a private family foundation, “Shootings Stars”, in 2007 at the South Saskatchewan Community Foundation. Ticia went to work gathering knowledge about fund development and planning annual community events. She is very proud of corporate partnerships and $1,000,000 raised to benefit various children’s charities in the Queen City over the 10 year project.

Educating and empowering people to strengthen philanthropic giving has been her passion for almost a decade. She has worked with dozens of Saskatchewan non-profits as an associate with DGC Philanthropic Services until January 2020. It was her colleagues at DCG who encouraged her to learn more about Planned Giving and recommended that she join CAGP.

Her current role is Director for the Reimagine Capital Campaign, the goal of which is too redevelop the Prince Edward Building, home of Globe Theatre in Regina. Ticia wants to impact Globe’s patrons in a meaningful way by sharing knowledge regarding the range of options, vehicles and potential financial benefits that are available to them when planning a gift to Globe Theatre today and tomorrow. Her goal has always been to assist the expansion of fundraising options for the clients she serves

“The innovative ways that CAGP members work with donors to help them achieve their philanthropic dreams is always inspiring”, says Ticia. “The new Will Power campaign that is launching in 2021 is particularly exciting for me as I am working with our local CAGP chapter members to educate professionals in our sector about the benefit of joining the program. I am grateful to be a part of such a dynamic group of industry leaders who are a part of our South Saskatchewan Chapter.”
