Roundtable Discussion Recap

On November 9, CAGP Saskatchewan South hosted a great roundtable discussion. Robust conversations were had, as there were representatives from charities, lawyers, and advisors participating in this discussion. The conversation focused on blended giving and the challenges that come along with adding this type of fundraising into the fold.

There were two challenges that arose:

1. The time it takes to get legacy giving, major giving, and leadership all together to discuss options, and;

2. That some charities do not have the expertise in legacy giving to have the discussion with their donors.

The hot topic was around life insurance policies. Questions arouse about the ethics surrounding the receipt of a life insurance gift, acceptance policies, and how to work alongside advisors to maximize the growth that gift like that could do for the community. This topic will be coming forward as an educational opportunity early 2023.

Planned Giving continues to be an important cornerstone of a successful revenue development strategy. The commitment of charities, lawyers, and financial advisors to moving planned giving forward is evident.

The CAGP Saskatchewan South Executive is committed to continuing to offer educational opportunities that are meaningful to our community and stakeholders. If you have suggestions for topics, please let us know!
